REDDITCH United suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time this season after losing 3-2 in a thriller at Bishop’s Stortford.
The Reds took an early lead courtesy of Matty Warburton’s stunning free-kick only for the home side to turn the game on its head either side of half time at the RDA Stadium.
However, Alex Cameron restored parity only for Mark Haines to score a late winner for the hosts in a five-goal thriller.
The result means Redditch sit 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table, three points outside of the play-off places.
United broke the deadlock after just seven minutes when Warburton curled a stunning free-kick into the net via the underside of the crossbar from 25-yards out.
However, Bishop’s Stortford drew level on the stroke of half time as former Football League forward Scott Kashket controlled a lofted through ball before cutting in on his left foot and curling a shot into the bottom left corner.
And the home side completed the turnaround three minutes after the break when Nahum Melvin-Lambert tapped home from close range after Kashket took the ball past Tyrese Warmington and squared the ball into the scorer’s path.
The Reds equalised on 51 minutes as Cameron rose highest to nod in from close range at the back post after Adam Hayton could only parry Liam Loughlan’s initial effort.
However, Stortford reclaimed the lead eight minutes from time as Haines forced the ball over the line following a scramble in the box despite the best efforts of Warmington.
Redditch are next in action against Halesowen Town on Tuesday, October 14 with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Grove.
