REDDITCH United have confirmed the appointment of former captain Jade Guppy as the club’s new women’s manager.
Guppy retired from playing at the end of the 2023/24 season and became assistant manager in August.
However, she has now taken on the manager’s role following the departure of former women’s boss Matt Bailey.
Guppy said: “Although I wasn’t expecting it, I am happy and proud to step up and take the managerial role.
“The targets set out at the beginning of the season remain the same and the focus is on the next game vs Droitwich. I’m looking forward to leading the team and I’ll do my best to help us achieve our goals.
“I’d like to thank Matt Bailey for all he’s done for Redditch United Women and allowing me to be his assistant manager following my retirement from playing.”
Bailey stepped down from the role with immediate effect earlier this week.
Redditch chairman, David Faulkner, said: “The turnaround in the performances of our Women’s team over the period that Matt has been with us has been remarkable, and clear for all to see.
“Our women’s section is certainly in a period of growth and the team is in a good position to continue its positive trajectory.
“We would like to thank Matt for his time and professionalism during his tenure with us, and wish him well in the future.”
