REDDITCH United’s six-game winning run in the league came to an end after the Reds lost 4-3 to Coalville Town in a seven-goal thriller.

The Reds twice surrendered the lead after Reece Flanagan’s penalty and substitute Alex Cameron’s goal put Redditch in front either side of half time.

That came after AJ George equalised to cancel out Tim Berridge’s opener before the same player drew the visitors level in first-half injury time.

However, after Cameron restored Redditch’s lead on the hour mark, Coalville substitute Terell Pennant levelled the game before grabbing the winner eight minutes from time at the Valley Stadium.

The result means the Reds sit fourth in the Southern League Premier Central table, three points behind leaders Needham Market who have two games in-hand.

Coalville took the lead on 24 minutes when Berridge drilled a low shot into the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area.

However, Redditch equalised five minutes later when George forced the ball home from close range after a scramble in the box following a corner.

And the Reds turned the game on its head three minutes later after Flanagan drew a foul in the box before coolly dispatching the resulting penalty into the bottom right corner.

Coalville drew level on the stroke of half time as Berridge fired home a superb strike off the underside of the crossbar from 20-yards out.

However, the Reds restored their lead on 60 minutes when Cameron finished into an empty net from close range after Coalville goalkeeper Paul White miscued his attempt to punch the ball to safety.

The visitors equalised for a second time on 77 minutes as Pennant lashed an effort into the roof of the net from a tight angle following a quickly-taken free-kick.

And Pennant won the game for Coalville with a superb solo goal five minutes later after he won back possession before driving into the box, taking the ball past Adam Harrison, and finishing into an empty net.

Redditch are next in action away at leaders Needham on Tuesday, January 9 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Bloomfields.
