BERNARD Mensah’s second-half goal earned Redditch United a 1-0 victory at Basford United to end the Reds’ five-month wait for an away win on Non-League Day.
Mensah scored the game’s only goal on 75 minutes at Greenwich Avenue as Matt Clarke’s side secured their first away win in the league since a 2-0 victory at AFC Rushden and Diamonds in October.
The result means Redditch sit eighth in the Southern League Premier Central table.
Both teams spurned chances in an end-to-end contest before Mensah scored the winner when he touched home Reece Flanagan’s corner from inside the six-yard box.
Redditch are in action TONIGHT (Monday, March 27) at home to West Bromwich Albion in the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Trico Stadium.
