SPORTING Club Inkberrow strengthened their grip on a play-off place with a convincing 3-0 home victory against top-five hopefuls Calne Town.
Inkberrow benefitted from two own goals with Dan Bamana also on target as the home side secured a comfortable win at Sands Road.
The result means Inkberrow sit fourth in the Hellenic League Division One table, six points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.
Inkberrow took the lead on 15 minutes when a Calne defender deflected the ball into his own net under pressure from Bamana.
And the home side doubled their lead on 32 minutes as Bamana headed in Gregor Guy’s cross to send Inkberrow into the break with a two-goal cushion.
The Berrow sealed the points early in the second half when Calne put through their own net a second time as they tried to clear Alex Griffiths’ cross from the left.
Calne almost pulled a goal back later in the half only for Sporting goalkeeper Jude Franks to make a superb save low down to his right.
Inkberrow are next in action away at second-placed Clanfield 85 on Good Friday (March 29) with kick-off at 3pm at Radcot Road.
