SPORTING Club Inkberrow were dumped out of the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup after losing 3-2 against lower division Ludlow Town.
Inkberrow suffered a second round exit at the hands of the Hellenic League Division One side at Bromfield Road.
Ludlow, who play one level below Inkberrow, also ended Sporting’s 10-game unbeaten run dating back to the start of November.
After a goalless first half, Ludlow broke the deadlock straight from kick-off in the second period as Ryan Lewis fired home from six-yards out after Inkberrow failed to deal with a long ball.
And Ludlow doubled their lead on 56 minutes when Lewis’s cross-shot somewhat fortuitously found the net.
The home side all but sealed their place in the next round on 68 minutes as Lewis completed his hat-trick with an instinctive volley on the turn from 25-yards out.
Inkberrow eventually reduced the deficit in the final minute as substitute Jay Higgins-Pugsley fired a shot into the bottom corner from 20-yards out.
And Sporting struck again four minutes into injury time when Higgins-Pugsley sent a free-kick from a similar area to his first goal into the net.
The visitors almost completed a miraculous late comeback only for a header at the death to travel the wrong side of the post.
Sporting Club Inkberrow are next in action against Slimbridge on Saturday, January 25 with kick-off at 3pm at Sands Road.
