SPORTING Club Inkberrow saw their six-game winning run in all competitions come to an end following a 2-1 home defeat against North Leigh Reserves in the Marsh Challenge Cup.

The Berrow equalised in the second half through Kieron Sheen’s effort only to suffer a late defeat with the game destined for penalties at the Inkberrow Recreation Ground.

North Leigh took the lead on 15 minutes when the visitors advanced down the Inkberrow left before Oscar Griffiths finished when one-on-one from six-yards out.

The home side dominated possession throughout but struggled to create a clear-cut chance before Sheen slid the ball home from close range on 65 minutes.

However, North Leigh won the game at the death, after Inkberrow squandered some good chances, as Elliott Heritage rounded the keeper before finishing into an empty net.

Inkberrow host Abingdon United on Tuesday, October 10 with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Inkberrow Recreation Ground.
