FOOTBALL - Sporting Club Inkberrow hold leaders Clanfield to draw

SPORTING Club Inkberrow played out a 0-0 draw with league leaders Clanfield 85 despite the visitors playing for more than an hour with 10-men.

Clanfield dominated the opening exchanges and were denied a chance on goal when Inkberrow’s Louis McDonald brought down a Clanfield player on the edge of the box.

However, a heavy touch from the visiting forward meant McDonald received a yellow card rather than a red.

The visitors continued to press for the opening goal as Inkberrow goalkeeper Jude Franks made an excellent save to keep the scores level.

And Inkberrow responded with a chance of their own only for William Skelton to be denied by the Clanfield keeper after good work from Bill Coughlin.

The game turned in the home side’s favour on the half-hour mark when Clanfield’s Cameron Pirie saw red for a foul on Tom Emblem with the Inkberrow man through on goal.

However, despite playing with an extra man for more than an hour, Inkberrow were unable to find a way through as the game ended goalless.

Inkberrow are next in action at home to Cheltenham Saracens on Monday, August 28 with kick-off at 3pm at the Inkberrow Recreation Ground.
