JOEL Steer scored twice as Sporting Club Inkberrow romped to an impressive 4-0 win away at Shortwood United.

Steer struck either side of the break to put Inkberrow in command before Luke Allcock and Nathan Benson completed the scoring at Meadowbank Stadium.

The result means Sporting sit fifth in the Hellenic League Division One table three points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off spot.

Inkberrow took the lead on 20 minutes when Steer collected Max-Emilios Angelides’ through ball before cutting inside and sliding the ball home from eight-yards out.

And the visitors doubled their advantage on 54 minutes as Steer headed home his second of the game from close range to put Sporting in control.

The away side sealed the points soon after as Steer teed up substitute Allcock who produced a delicate touch to send the ball past the Shortwood goalkeeper.

And Sporting added a fourth goal with 10 minutes left to play when Benson headed in Gregor Guy’s corner.

Inkberrow are next in action at home to Stonehouse Town on Friday, February 2 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Inkberrow Recreation Ground.
