SPORTING Club Inkberrow cruised to an impressive 4-1 victory away at in-form Worcester Raiders to secure their first win of the New Year.

Inkberrow took command of the game courtesy of first-half goals from Tom Emblem and Leo Brown at Sixways Stadium.

The home side reduced the deficit after the break as Jordan Stoddart bundled the ball home at a corner.

However, substitute Will Skelton restored Inkberrow’s two-goal lead before Jack Tolley sealed the points eight minutes from time.

The result means Sporting sit third in the Hellenic League Premier Division table, nine points behind leaders Hartpury University who have a game in-hand.

Inkberrow broke the deadlock on 15 minutes when Brown switched the ball to Emblem who cut inside of his man and fired home from 10-yards out.

And the visitors doubled their lead soon after as Brown powered a shot past Raiders goalkeeper Charlie Emery after good work from Jay Higgins-Pugsley.

Raiders improved after the break and halved the deficit on the hour mark when Stoddart forced the ball over the line at a corner.

However, Sporting all but made sure of the points on 80 minutes as Skelton hammered a shot into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

And Inkberrow struck again two minutes later when Tolley finished Emblem’s perfectly-weighted cross.

Sporting Club Inkberrow are next in action against Bewdley Town in the Marsh Challenge Cup on Friday, January 10 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Sands Road.
