STUDLEY’S Hannah Hampton missed out on the top prize at this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.
Hampton featured on the shortlist for the top prize alongside five other athletes.
However, Hampton, Lionesses teammate Chloe Kelly and darts sensation Luke Littler failed to make it through to the voting for the top three.
Golfer Rory McIlroy won the Sports Personality of the Year award with rugby union World Cup winner Ellie Kildunne runner-up.
And recently-crowned Formula One world champion Lando Norris finished in third place.
McIlroy scooped the top prize in a year which saw the golfer win the Masters to complete a Grand Slam of all four golf majors.
The 36-year-old also helped Europe secure a first Ryder Cup win on American soil since 2012.
And Hampton missed out again with the European Ryder Cup team named the team of the year ahead of the Lionesses.
The event took place at MediaCityUK in Salford.
