FOOTBALL - Tim Flowers admits Alvechurch need more quality up front after Harborough Town defeat

TIM Flowers admits his side needs more quality at the top end of the pitch after Alvechurch failed to score for the fifth game in a row against Harborough Town.

Church suffered a cruel 1-0 defeat against the league leaders at the Community Football Ground as Alex Morris’s late goal proved decisive.

Alvechurch have now gone more than seven hours without scoring a goal and sit 11th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points outside of the play-off places.

And Flowers knows his side must improve in front of goal to snap their losing run.

Flowers said: “That’s the best we’ve played for three or four weeks since the Quorn game.

“We dominated large parts of the game and got into some great positions and not finishing.

“Now I’m singing the same song that I was singing before Jose Marquez came in.

“It’s a dangerous thing because we’ve not scored for five games on the bounce now. It’s not good enough.

“In the end, you live and die by front men and by the quality you’ve got in-between the posts, where games are won and lost.

“We got into some unbelievable scenarios but every single time [we didn’t score].

“We have to take the positives. That’s the best we’ve played for a bit and we looked more like the team that was putting really good teams to the sword.”

Alvechurch are next in action against Real Bedford in the FA Trophy on Saturday, November 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
