A MEMORIAL game in memory of former Redditch United captain Tom Rankin will take place at Leamington later this month.
Rankin died tragically at the age of 26 in March 2022.
The midfielder played for Leamington’s youth team and progressed to the first team ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
He later played for Loughborough University, Bromsgrove Sporting and Redditch United.
Rankin spent three seasons with Redditch and he also captained the Reds during his time at the Valley Stadium.
Leamington will honour their former player by hosting the 2025 Tom Rankin memorial game.
The game takes place on Sunday, July 27 with kick-off at 1pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
A Tom Rankin XI will take on a Loughborough University XI. He played for Loughborough’s university sides while studying at the university.
The Tom Rankin team will feature players he played alongside at Leamington, Redditch and Bromsgrove.
Player announcements for the Tom Rankin XI will follow over the coming weeks on the club’s website and social media channels.
Leamington have suggested entry to the game is a donation to the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) charity.
A bucket collection will also take place on the day to raise funds for the charity.
Previous Tom Rankin memorial matches took place at Redditch and Bromsgrove respectively.
Last year’s match at Sporting’s Victoria Ground raised more than £1,000 for CALM.
