RYAN Wollacott netted a late winner as Redditch United battled to a 1-0 win against bottom of the table AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
Wollacott headed in six minutes from time at the Trico Stadium as the Reds ended their three-game winless run and scored their first goal in four matches after three successive defeats on the road.
The result means Redditch sit 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table.
Players and supporters came together for a minute’s applause in memory of former Redditch player Tom Rankin prior to kick-off, almost one year on from the midfielder’s tragic death after the same fixture last season.
And after numerous chances went begging, Wollacott finally broke the deadlock on 84 minutes when he headed back across goal and into the bottom left corner.
Redditch are next in action away at Basford United on Saturday, March 25 with kick-off at 3pm at Greenwich Avenue.
