Girls are kicking it at Inkberrow

ENGLAND’S Lionesses kick-off their World Cup campaign against Scotland on Sunday and they are not the only footballers showing girls can kick it.

Inkberrow Girls FC are hosting their annual summer tournament prior to the big game, with 20-plus teams coming from across the county to play in age groups from under nines to under 15s and there will be plenty of skill on show from all those involved.

Over the last few years the success of the England women’s team and local Women’s Super League team Birmingham City has ensured girls’ football has gone from strength to strength and Inkberrow have been capitalising on this.

As they head towards the 2019/20 season they are hoping to field six girls’ teams as their FA Wildcats centre for the younger player enters its second year. Meanwhile, a new Mars FA Just Play initiative for women has also been introduced.

The club have their own pavilion and pitches and are looking to expand their playing surfaces to ensure football is made available for future players. For more details about the club, contact Mark Wilkinson on 07795 259723.
