AFTER losing out by three shots the previous week, White Hart’s A team went even closer in the return match at Hockley Heath A in Heart of England Over 60s League Division One as they went down 101-100.
Despite being below full strength due to the absence of Stephen Turner and Ian Humphreys, the Redditch club had three winners – Rob Faulks 21-13, Tom Hawkes 21-18 and captain Mike Estell who turned round a heavy defeat by Lorrie Sparks to beat the same opponent 21-7.
The B team made amends for their opening match defeat by Kings Norton Ex-Service in Division Two, beating them 114-88 at home.
Ian Humphreys (21-11), Mick Perrins (21-8) and Sheila Humphreys (21-6) were their three winners, while Sue Sugden only lost by a single shot and Kirk Wright came back from 9-1 down to score 18 against Kings Norton’s Peter Eaton who has been a league averages winner for the last two seasons.
In Northfield & District League Division Two, White Hart A had a full house of eight winners at home to Black Horse A, comfortably beating them 152-103.
Graham Arnott (21-3) was their easiest winner while Matt Higgins (21-7), Tim Hollingshead (21-8) and Paul Matthews (21-9) were never troubled to win their ties.
They were supported by wins for Ian Humphreys (21-15), Mike Estell and captain Mick Perrins (both 21-20).
The B team stay at the top of Division Four after a fine 154-113 away win over Black Horse B.
They had five winners – captain Dave Edwards 21-9, John Meredith 21-18, Gill Croft 21-2, Tom Hawkes 21-10 and Kirk Wright 21-11.
Croft, Hawkes and Wright occupy the top three places in the league averages list at this early stage of the season.
