REDDITCH Hockey Club enjoyed another excellent week of results as several of their teams came out on top in their respective matches.

The men’s first team battled to a hard-fought 2-1 win against Bloxwich as Harrison Young levelled the game for Redditch before Connor Adams scored the winner in the second half.

Elsewhere, the ladies’ first team secured a 5-0 walkover win against Stourport 3rds with the visitors unable to field a side.

The men’s second team romped to an impressive 6-1 victory against Edgbaston 4ths to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Harry Saunders netted a brace with Lee Beedon, Richard Sellors, Kris Sunburk and Josh Checkley all on target while Ethan Smith debuted in goal.

The ladies’ second team won 4-0 away at Droitwich 2nds as Sophie E broke the deadlock with a rebound goal.

And Louise Jennings and A Goodman struck in the second half while Elsie S forced Droitwich to concede an own goal to complete the scoring as Mel Vaughan recorded a clean sheet between the sticks.

The men’s third team produced a second-half comeback to beat Worcester 5ths 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller.

Redditch fell behind early on before Alex Ward, Theo C and Tom Edney combined to bring the visitors level as the latter calmly took a touch around the keeper before slotting the ball home.

Worcester reclaimed the lead only for Redditch to level through Anthony Brookes’ superb reverse shot as the home side edged in front at the break courtesy of a rebound goal.

However, Redditch drew level for a third time when Brookes scored his second of the game following a succession of penalty corners.

And Marshall G then scored the winner after gliding past several players before finishing well as a strong defensive effort in the final five minutes sealed an excellent win.

Lastly, the club’s Badgers team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Worcester Potters despite dominating for large periods but were unable to find a way past Worcester’s adult goalkeeper.
