REDDITCH Hockey enjoyed an excellent weekend of results with four of their five teams in action coming out on top in their respective matches.
The men’s first team battled to a hard-fought 2-1 win against Bromsgrove despite falling behind as Harrison Young and Josh Brown struck in the second half to move joint top of the table.
And goalkeeper and captain Joe Cardy pulled off a number of superb saves to ensure Redditch claimed the derby day spoils.
The men’s second team also tasted victory with a 4-1 win against Old Silhillians 3rds as Harry Saunders scored twice with Richard Sellors and Lee Beedon both on target on the road.
And the ladies first team claimed a 2-1 win against Olton and West Warwickshire 3rds as Marie-Anne scored her ninth goal in just eight games to remain top of the scoring charts before Anna Dawson grabbed the winner.
The ladies second team eased to a 5-0 win against Kings Heath as captain Louise Jenkins broke the deadlock with a driven shot through a crowd of bodies.
And Tula W then scored twice before Ava G added to Redditch’s lead as the former completed her hat-trick late on with a superb flick on the reverse stick.
Lastly, the Badgers suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Kings Heath.
