REDDITCH Hockey Club won all of their home games while the Badgers secured their first win of the season.

The men’s first team saw their eight-game unbeaten run come to an end against bogey team Stafford as Pete Dawson and Jack Gwyer netted for Redditch in a 3-2 defeat.

Elsewhere, the men’s second team produced a dominant performance to beat Worcester 3rds 4-0 and extend their lead at the top of the table as James Makin scored twice while Harry Saunders and Josh Checkley also found the net.

And the men’s third team secured a 2-0 win at Finchfield 5ths as Hadley and Damien Perry scored second-half goals after Redditch goalkeeper Aryn W made a couple of crucial saves.

Elsewhere, the ladies first team suffered defeat at Bromsgrove 2nds with the squad featuring a number of younger players from the second team who did not look out of place.

Redditch made a strong start and proved more than a match for the league leaders before a clinical Bromsgrove side scored three goals during a 20-minute spell in the first half.

And despite the Kingfishers creating a number of good opportunities in the second half, Bromsgrove caught Redditch on the counter attack late on to extend their lead.

The ladies second team played a 10-a-side match against a developmental Barford Tigers 2nds at short notice after Old Hales 2nds conceded the scheduled league fixture.

With several players featuring for the first team, Redditch fielded a young squad in a game they dominated from start to finish.

Captain Louise Jennings opened the scoring early on before Freya W quickly doubled Redditch’s lead as Bex Brookes’ powerful effort sealed a 3-0 victory.

Lastly, the club’s Badgers team secured their first win of the season against Droitwich as Ben G scored the game’s opening goal following a confident start.

And Ethan C then scored from the top of the D through the goalkeeper’s legs to double Redditch’s lead before Droitwich reduced the deficit in the second half.

Despite failing to convert a number of chances as the game wore on, a controlled defensive line helped the Badgers to their first victory of the season.
