REDDITCH Hockey Club’s men’s first, second and third teams all achieved promotion from their respective division’s as league champions.

The men’s second and third teams had already secured promotion and the first team followed suit with victory on the final day of the season.

Anything less than a win could have seen Redditch finish third and outside of the promotion places, however, goals from Josh Brown and Dan Jakeman secured the league title.

The men’s second team also won their league thanks to goals from Richard Sellors and Ethan Smith against Old Halesonians 3rds.

And after finishing just six points off relegation last year, the second team smashed their own expectations to achieve an unlikely promotion.

The men’s third team also lifted the title in their division after finishing the season with a 1-1 draw against Old Halesonians 4ths.

Redditch took the lead when Marshall G deflected John Manison’s strike into the net only for Old Halesonians to equalise from a penalty flick in the second half.

Elsewhere, the men’s fourth team ended the season with a 2-1 home win against Old Silhillians as Redditch overturned a half time deficit.

The ladies first team suffered relegation on goal difference after losing 3-1 in their final game of the season with Kirk Williams on target for Redditch who fielded six teenagers in the side.

Redditch finished just two goals behind Old Silhillians in the table although the relegation could present an opportunity to some of the club’s younger players looking to make their breakthrough.

The ladies second team also lost 3-1 against Edgbaston 4ths who secured the league title in the process.

Redditch had already secured fourth place in the league and went in level at the break when Freya W arrived late to meet Sophie Evans cutback and slap the ball past the goalkeeper.

However, Edgbaston scored two second-half goals to clinch the title despite a valiant effort from Redditch.
