REDDITCH Hockey Club’s respective teams were involved in a number of top of the table clashes over the past weekend.

The men’s first team remain unbeaten following a come-from-behind 4-2 victory against league leaders Stourport as Dick Weaver scored a classy hat-trick with Jack Gwyer also on target.

Redditch now trail Stourport by a single point in the table having enjoyed an excellent start to the current campaign.

And the ladies first team battled to a 1-1 draw against Harborne 2nds as Marie-Anne Irons continued her rich vein of form.

The ladies second team played out an entertaining draw with local rivals Bromsgrove which included a mother versus daughter battle as Fran and Sophie Evans played against each other for the first time.

And a fantastic strike from Fran at a penalty corner eventually broke Redditch’s resistance early in the second half.

However, the goal sparked Redditch into life as Becki Clarke dictated play from midfield before Sophie matched her mother’s contribution with an excellent run from halfway before beating the keeper with a perfectly-weighted shot.

And Redditch completed the turnaround when Evans picked up a deflection before squaring to Tula W to apply the finish after Elsie S saw her initial shot blocked.

Bromsgrove responded with an equalising goal in the final minute of the game, catching Redditch out on the counter attack, as the top of the table clash ended all square.

The men’s third team also took part in a top of the table clash at Bournville as the visitors secured an impressive 3-0 victory.

Ben McFarland broke the deadlock for Redditch before Miller Glen struck to put the away side into a two-goal lead at half time with McFarland completing the scoring in the second period.

The men’s fourth team drew 4-4 in their fixture with Jacob D, Arran S and Owen M producing some fine tackles and making some excellent passes.

Lastly, the club’s Badgers side earned a 1-1 draw in their game despite having a large amount of shots and penalty corner attempts.
