WITH half of the league programme already complete, Alcester Bowling Club had a week of total success as they won all four of their matches.
In Division Five of the S&W Birmingham Over 60s League, the A team clinched promotion in their match at West Midlands Police, winning by ten shots.
Alcester’s winners were John Slater (21-10), Ken Craddock (21-11) and Renny Bannister (21-14), giving them nine points to the hosts’ three.
The B team in Division Six ran riot in their home game against Foden/Marston Green B. Brilliant wins for Tricia Barry (21-0), Gill Spiers (21-7) and Geoff Spiers (21-9) led the way, backed up by Eric Allport (21-12) and Jean Craddock (21-13).
Special mention should be made of Jean Sherrington who came back superbly from 17-5 down to win the final point on offer in her 21-20 success. This gave Alcester a huge 65-shot win, picking up all ten points in the process.
The Heart of England Over 60s League finds both Alcester sides in good positions, albeit just outside the promotion races.
In Division Two, the A team entertained Woodbourne A and gained an excellent 42-shot win.
Captain John Alderson and Renny Bannister both had superb wins at 21-2 and 21-8 respectively. Also successful were Val McDermott (21-16), Geoff Spiers (21-17) and Ken Craddock (21-19).
Jean Bannister (21-20 defeat) just missed out on the final point as Alcester cruised to a 15-1 victory.
The B team visited Green Man B and had a somewhat fortunate win by just a single shot.
Playing a man short meant, the hosts gifted Alcester a 21-0 card which resulted in an away victory. Wins for Gill Spiers (21-17) and Jean Craddock (21-20) helped the Alcester cause and gave them 13 points to the hosts’ three.
