FURI Sutairu Shotokan Karate (FSK) ended the year on a high as Henley-in-Arden-based two-time world champion Sensei Dave Treadwell and his squad of students competed successfully in a national competition.

Jacob finished third in junior kata in the Worcester event, Josh Thorp was second in junior kata and Laura Smith won her junior kata category.

In their first taste of competing, Maisie Smith and Evie Waters took second place in team kata and Sensei Treadwell was first in adult kata.

Sensei Treadwell said: “It’s been a great year for the club with students taking podium places in kata, team kata, weapon kata, kumite, points sparing and continuous sparring at competitions up and down the country and also winning national, European and world titles.”

FSK have dojos at Tudor Grange Academy, Redditch, on Tuesdays between 6-7.30pm and Saturdays at Woodrush High School hub in Wythall between 9.30-11am. Contact Sensei Treadwell on 07341 569060.
