MARTIAL ARTS - FSK Redditch return from World Martial Arts Games with incredible 23-medal haul

SHIHAN Treadwell and his small army of FSK Redditch students returned from the prestigious World Martial Arts Games with an incredible 23-medal haul.

The competition took place in Daytona, Florida as martial artists from around the world descended upon America’s east coast for the three-day event.

And Treadwell and his students were representing Great Britain at the Games as he and his FSK Redditch team won 12 gold, eight silver and three bronze medals across a variety of categories.

Treadwell and his students showcased their skills in akata, sparing, kumite, weapons, grappling and breaking.

And Treadwell used all of his experience to win gold in kunite and team kumite as well as silver in traditional kata, creative kata, team point sparing and a point sparring exhibition team fight to come away with six medals.

FSK Redditch student Elara Sands won four gold medals in points sparing, team points, team kumite and kumite as well as silver in continuous sparring to claim five medals.




And Theo Giles claimed gold medals in kumite, weapons and creative kata while also taking silver in kata to win four medals.

There was also gold for Dean Cooke in kumite and team kumite while he claimed silver in kata to come away with three medals.


FSK’s Frankie Sands won kumite gold and point sparring silver as Josh Thorp dug deep to take bronze in creative, individual and traditional kata.

Lastly, Cleo McFarlane produced a superb performance in her kata sections as she just missed out on a podium finish after placing fourth.
