FURI Sutairu Karate Federation (FSK) Redditch’s 6th Dan Shihan Dave Treadwell and student Cleo McFarlane took part in the WKU National Championships.
The event took place over two days of competition at a packed Telford International Centre.
McFarlane won two gold medals in individual kata and weapon kata while Shihan Treadwell won gold, silver and bronze medals in his events.
Shihan Treadwell said: “I always tell my students some you win and some you lose but you never stop learning and consistency is key.
“Cleo has been training at Furi Sutairu Redditch now for nearly three years and her progression has been incredible over this period.
“She is growing into a really good all round karate practitioner, nothing fazes her and she is still only eight-years-old.
“We have had to monitor her progression and hold her back at some points due to being so young which has worked wonders, she has great potential but still so much to learn.”
McFarlane and Treadwell head to the European Games in London in July with the latter to also coach the GB Team.
