MID-TABLE Redditch went down 5-1 at second placed Solihull Blossomfield in the West Midlands Premier Division on Saturday but the result was harsh on the Kingfishers who competed well for long periods.

However, defensive mistakes were heavily punished by a clinical Blossomfield side who led 3-0 at half time.

Harry Capewell was the scorer for Redditch, who face another stern test when they host leaders Sikh Union on Saturday (1.30pm).

REDDITCH 2nds were 3-1 home winners against North Stafford in West Midlands Premier 2nd Team League.

Lee Breedon, Richard Sellors and Dan Waite were the scorers for mid-table Redditch, who visit second placed Stone on Saturday.

JO COOK struck twice and Anna Dawson netted from a short corner to help Redditch Ladies to a 3-3 draw at local rivals Bromsgrove in Worcestershire League Division Two on Saturday.

Eva Dodd was player of the match for second placed Redditch, who trail leaders Kings Heath Pickwick on goal difference with a game in hand at the halfway stage of their season.

REDDITCH Ladies 2nds netted their first win of the Worcestershire League Division Three season as they saw off visitors Worcester 4ths 3-2.

Fran Baker gave Redditch the lead but Worcester hit back with goals either side of half time to take a 2-1 advantage.

Undeterred, Redditch rallied and Baker levelled the score with her second goal before Millie Melliard’s strike secured maximum points for the home side.

The ladies, who are all pleased with their positive end to the year, are now looking forward to continuing the season in the new year after a well earned rest over Christmas.

ON SUNDAY Redditch HC hosted a Worcestershire hockey tournament for U8s and U10s which was the first event of its kind to be held at the club in recent history.

Teams from Redditch, Bromsgrove, Harborne, Kings Heath, Colwall & Malvern, Stourport and Worcester attended and there was some very good hockey played by all involved.
