N-FORM Sally Hogan secured victory at the Gloucestershire Cross Country League third round meeting at Pittville Park in Cheltenham.
Newly-crowned Midland Women’s Cross Country League Division Two women’s champion Hogan impressed as she led the way for Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club on a superb course which had everything including sharp climbs, water jump, mud and grassland.
Hogan secured victory on Saturday in a time of 26.30, but she was chased hard by Hilary Mott of Cheltenham who clocked 26.38.
Fellow B&R runners Tamara Freeman and her mother Charlotte Ball finished 14th and 85th respectively in a field of 129 as the team secured seventh position out of 14.
The B&R men were led home by Kevin Fisher in 33rd place. He was followed by team-mates Andrew Freeman (40th), Kevin Lanckham (81st), Ian Keyte (106th) and Ian Nutter (128th).
Unfortunately for B&R men, of whom the youngest was 42, they were one man short to complete a team but, as only four runners were needed to complete in the masters category, B&R finished fourth out of 16 teams.
The fourth and final race in the series takes place at Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire on March 4.
Robert Humphries, who has now move to Staffordshire, ran his last race for B&R before joining new club Rugeley Runners.
Humphries was also the only B&R runner to take part in the Rugeley ten-mile race and performed well on an undulating course to finish 41st in 1.08.52.
The club’s next race is the National Cross Country Championships being held at Parliament Hill, London.
