Natalie earns top-ten place at National Road Relays

YOUNGSTER Natalie Hatfield claimed a top-ten place as Bromsgrove and Redditch AC athletes took on the best of the best in the ERRA National Road Relays at Sutton Park.

The event featured three, four and six-stage relays for all age groups, with 13 BRAC athletes beating their times from the regionals two weeks ago.

Natalie finished ninth in the under-13s girls event, with BRAC teammates Sophie Groom (17th, 16.20)) and Esme Ranger (30th, 17.55) helping the club finish 30th out of 70 starting teams.

The U13 boys had an incomplete team but Josh Robins finished 12th in 13.54. with Harry Williams 34th in 16.16. while Beth Sykes was 25th in the girls’ U15 race after clocking 15.04.

The U15 boys’ team was 35th out of 62 starting teams thanks to Joseph Hamilton (16th, 13.13), Alexander Roberts (29th, 14.56) and Trenton Roberts (35th, 15.18. 35). Ellen Bowen (18th, 15.01), Chelsea Wright (21st, 15.40), and Eleanor Moss (29th, 15.59) helped BRAC’s U17 women take 19th place out of 47 starting teams.

In the U17 men’s race, Gareth Richardson led home the BRAC squad in 24th in 12.39, with Thomas Deykin (23rd, 13.18) and Alexander Johnson (38th, 14.45 38) following home for 38th out of 59 starting teams.

The senior women were 37th out of 78 starting teams, thanks to Sally Hogan 16.11. (46th), Katy Barden (39th, 16.51). Tamara Freeman (40th, 17.21) and Rebecca Selvey (37th, 18.49).

BRAC runners are in action in the first of the four Gloucestershire Cross country League meetings at Little Rissington near Bourton-on-the-Water tomorrow (Saturday), starting at 11.30am.
