REDDITCH got their West Midlands Premier Division campaign off to a superb start with an 8-0 victory at fellow promoted side West Bromwich on Saturday.

The visitors took an early lead through Harry Capewell’s drag flick from a short corner and the advantage was doubled by Josh Brown.

It became 3-0 when a penalty flick off a short corner was stopped on the line by a West Brom defender and Capewell netted his second by rifling the ball into the top right-hand corner.

Brown made it 4-0 before half time and the one-way traffic continued in the second half when captain Andy Billingham finished a fine move.

Strikes from the top of the D from James Makin (2) and Jacob Beard put the icing on the cake for the Kingfishers, who return to Aston University on Saturday (2.30pm) to face Aldridge & Walsall.

REDDITCH Ladies made it three wins from three in Worcestershire League Division Two as goals from Eva Dodd, Leanne Styzaker and Ruth Waite sealed a 3-0 home success over Worcester 3rds.

The Kingfishers, for whom Dodd was player of the match, visit Kings Heath Pickwick on Saturday.

REDDITCH 2nds were beaten 4-0 at home by Old Silhillians in West Midlands Premier 2nd Team League, but there was better news for the 3rds who won 5-0 at Wednesbury in West Midlands Division One 3rd Team League.

Mark Sadler opened the scoring with a well struck shot into the middle of the goal which followed by a stunner from club chairman Tim Gibbs on a rebound from a penalty corner.

Eugene Read scored with an excellent reverse stick shot, Ethan Reeves netted a reverse stick deflection from a penalty corner and Luke Baker showing great composure to beat two players at the top of the D before slotting a a well struck shot into the bottom corner.

Redditch 4ths suffered their second defeat of the Central League South West 2 season as a strong Khalsa side won 3-1.

The home side did earn some reward with a goal in the second half when a well worked short corner routine from Simon Bagladi found captain Josh Checkley whose deflected shot found the bottom corner.

Other Saturday fixtures: Finchfield 2nds v Redditch 2nds; Redditch 3rds v West Bromwich 3rds; Olton & West Warwick 5ths v Redditch 4ths.
