REDDITCH United hosted the Year 8 Schools Cup Final last Friday, March 18 as Woodrush High School faced Walkwood Middle School.

And Woodrush sealed a dramatic victory after a 1-1 draw sent the game to penalties with the High School scoring their seventh penalty in sudden death to claim the trophy.

The players were treated to the opportunity of playing at United’s 4000 capacity Trico Stadium.

Reds Chairman David Faulkner watched from the stands along with first team players Tom Rankin and Kieren Donnelly and club Secretary Alan Wolfe who were on hand to present the trophies and medals after the game.

Faulkner said: “We’re very happy that we could be a part of celebrating the success of these two teams.

“It was certainly a dramatic affair and it was nice to see both sides so well supported.

“We provided some tickets to our next first team game against Rushden and Diamonds on March 26th so we hope they will be back at the stadium again soon.”

Redditch’s clash with Rushden falls on Non League Day with kick-off at 3pm and the club has reduced priced tickets to just £5 for adults whilst children aged 13 and under go free.

There will be a beer offer with Amstel and Inches Cider being sold all day for £3 and England vs Switzerland being shown in the 1891 Lounge following the game (5:30pm kick off).
