Reds add two more as summer revamp continues

Redditch Editorial 3rd Jul, 2018 Updated: 3rd Jul, 2018   0

REDDITCH United have continued their summer rebuilding by capturing defender Tom Fishwick and striker Leam Howards.

Reds boss Paul Davis has won the race to sign the highly sought-after Fishwick, who was the subject of interest from many clubs.

The Reds faithful will recall the central defender’s spell at the Trico Stadium at the end of last season when he produced some mature and accomplished displays according to Davis, who will be seeking more of the same in the 2018/19 Evo-Stik South Premier campaign.

Davis said: “During his spell with Redditch, Tom showed the capabilities needed to be a top centre-half. Tom has gained some excellent experience playing at this level and, despite his young years, that experience has allowed him to develop into an established player.”

Meanwhile, former Banbury United striker Howards is proven at Southern League level having scored 57 goals in 150 appearances.

Davis added: “At 23, Leam has his best years ahead of him. I am delighted to have him on board. He brings workrate and goals on the pitch, while off the pitch he will be one of the characters of the dressing room.

“I expect good things from Leam and I am sure he will turn out to be a fantastic signing.”

Both recruits took part in last Thursday’s pre-season training – the first of the summer – and are available for the opening pre-season friendly against League Two side Port Vale at the Trico on Friday (7.45pm).

Up to 11 new Reds signings may be in action, so supporters are urged to check out the newest members of the side. Entry is £5 for adults, £3 concessions and under 16s go free with an accompanying adult.
