Reds face critical test

Redditch Editorial 5th Dec, 2019   0

REDDITCH United head into Saturday’s battle of the bottom two having suffered the ignominy of a tenth straight league defeat last time out.

Duane Darby’s reign as Reds boss got off to a nightmare start as promotion hopefuls Peterborough Sports inflicted a 7-0 defeat on United on Saturday.

Redditch actually forced Sports keeper Lewis Moat into numerous excellent saves in the first half and were unlucky to find themselves 2-0 down at the break.

However, by full-time the visitors were emphatically beaten as Maniche Sani bagged a second half hat-trick.

The Reds now occupy bottom spot having slipped below Leiston by a point.

The two sides now go head-to-head at the Trico this weekend with the Reds desperate to end their rotten form.

Darby, who named himself on the subs bench on Saturday, has seen loanee midfielder Callum Coyle return to Solihull Moors.

Redditch, who remain four points below the safety mark, are also in action on Monday when they visit Evesham United for a Worcestershire Senior Cup quarter-final.
