Reds on the road

REDDITCH United travel to Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday keen to launch a strong finish to the Southern League Premier Division campaign.

The Reds are 16th in the table with 11 matches remaining but only five points adrift of the top ten.

Tim Harris’ side saw Saturday’s scheduled home match against Royston Town postponed due to snow. The fixture has been rearranged for Tuesday, April 17.

REDDITCH United Ladies are preparing for a West Midlands Regional Women’s League Cup quarter-final at Solihull United on Sunday.

The fixture is a repeat of last season’s final in which the Reds prevailed to ensure silverware from an impressive campaign in which they finished second in Division One South.

This season Gary Barrell’s side are top of the pile – two points above second-placed Gornal with five matches remaining. Sunday’s scheduled Reds home game against fellow title hopefuls Coventry Sphinx was snowed off.

STUDLEY are due to return to Midland League Division One action at home to bottom side Coventry Alvis on Saturday.

The Bees, who saw Saturday’s scheduled visit to Paget Rangers postponed due to snow, were held to a 2-2 draw at Alvis in late February when the visitors recovered from a 2-0 deficit to earn a share of the spoils.

Studley, now eighth, rallied well to earn a share of the spoils through goals from Andy Nicol (penalty) and Chris Cowley but, despite complete second half dominance, could not find a winner.
