ALCESTER RFC completed a rare league double over Manor Park with a bonus point 49-29 victory on the road.

Captain Ed Gough scored two tries and remained perfect from the kicking tee to end the game with a 24-point individual haul at Heath End Road.

Further tries from Will Silk, Jamie Harland, Josh O’Connor, Lewis Wright and Ieuan Hopkin sealed victory for the visitors.

The win means Alcester remain second in the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) table.

Alcester scored the game’s first try on seven minutes as Silk dotted down and Gough converted.

Manor Park responded with a converted try of their own before Harland restored’s Alcester’s lead.

The home side levelled the scores again with a second try only for Gough to score under the posts to put the visitors seven points ahead at the break.

And Alcester extended their lead two minutes after the interval when Dwayne Cruickshank ran almost the length of the field and offloaded to O’Connor who finished under the posts for the away side’s bonus point try.

Manor Park scored an unconverted try in reply before Wright blasted through a number of tackles to score Alcester’s fifth try.

The home side scored a bonus point try soon after but lost a player to the sin-bin heading into the final quarter.

Alcester made the most of the extra man when Hopkin touched down before Gough crossed for his second try of the game.

The visitors lost Phil Birks to the sin-bin late on as Manor Park scored the game’s final try but the score proved too little too late.

Alcester are next in action against Evesham on Saturday, April 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Blind Lane.
