ALCESTER RFC maintained their perfect home record with a 27-7 bonus point victory against Droitwich.
Tries from Owen Binns, Oscar Holland, Dwayne Cruickshank and Jack Green ensured Alcester returned to winning ways at Kings Coughton.
The result means Alcester sit second in the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) table, six points behind leaders Luctonians II.
And the club also fielded three senior sides for the first time in over 20 years with Alcester’s second and third sides also in action.
Alcester opened the scoring with their first attack as Binns finished smartly after the ball went through several pairs of hands.
And Ed Gough then kicked a penalty from in front of the posts to extend the home side’s lead.
Droitwich responded with a converted try to reduce the deficit before Holland crossed and Gough converted to put the home side in command at the break.
And Alcester struck again after the interval when Cruickshank scored the home side’s third try.
A trademark run from Green saw him fend off several defenders before touching down under the posts for Alcester’s bonus point try.
Tempers boiled over in the closing stages with Alcester’s Sam Lear sent to the sin-bin as the home side saw out the remaining minutes to return to winning ways.
Alcester are next in action against Evesham on Saturday, October 26 with kick-off at 3pm at Blind Lane.
Elsewhere, the club’s depleted second team lost 38-10 against Newbold with many players utilised out of their natural positions.
Alcester’s James Roberts suffered a significant injury just 20 minutes into the game with the match paused and relocated to a different pitch.
Tries from Jack Clay and Che Mathews proved in vain although the home side produced a valiant effort.
And the club’s third team also took to the pitch in a huge 68-5 victory against Shipston 3rds.
The game acted as a memorial match for former player Phil Povey who died recently.
Povey played an integral role in Alcester’s third and fourth sides throughout the 1990s.
On the pitch, Steve Mason led the way for Alcester with a hat-trick while 17-year-old Noah Birks dotted down twice on his senior debut.
Further tries from Elliot Evans, Scott McGee, Robbie Parker, Joel Barker, Antony Blondel, Stuart Whitehead and Povey’s nephew Luke Talin put Alcester into a 53-point lead at the break.
Both Glynn Smith and Chris Howell kicked two conversions apiece as Alcester romped to victory.
