ALCESTER RFC failed to register a point in a 36-0 home defeat against league leaders Luctonians II.

An injury-hit Alcester suffered a third straight league defeat against the table toppers at Kings Coughton.

The result means Alcester sit fourth in the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) table.

Luctonians made a strong start and raced into a 12-point lead with Alcester yet to have any meaningful possession in Luctonians territory.

The loss of former captain Jack Green to a broken arm further hampered Alcester’s cause as the hosts trailed by 12 points at the break.

Luctonians scored their third try after the interval before Alcester lost Alex Chiles to the sin-bin for repeated infringements from the home side.

The visitors crossed for three further tries to seal a bonus point win and close in on securing the league title.

Alcester are next in action against Old Leamingtonians on Saturday, February 15 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Kings Coughton.

Elsewhere, Alcester’s second XV romped to an 83-8 friendly win against a Birmingham Medics team made up of student players.

After a scoreless opening 25 minutes, Alcester ran in 13 tries and converted nine of the scores.

The home side took a 28-point lead into the break as Will Mitchell, Ollie Moore, Harry Roderick, Ernst Pienaar all crossed for tries and Charlie Rose added four conversions.

And Mitchell completed his hat-trick in the second half while Robbie Parker, Dylan Robson, Phil Birks, Che Mathews, Morgan O’Dell, James Hibbard and Moore all dotted down.

A further three conversions from Rose and two from Toby Birks rounded off a dominant performance.

The Medics kicked a penalty and scored a consolation try in the closing minutes.
