ALCESTER RFC returned to winning ways with a resounding 44-12 bonus point victory against Bromyard.

Both Jack Green and Lewis Wright crossed twice while Josh O’Connor, Lewis Walker, Ed Gough and Rich Udall all dotted down for Alcester at Kings Coughton.

The result means Alcester sit second in the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) table.

Alcester scored the game’s first try after just 12 minutes when Green bulldozed his way over the line from the right wing.

And Green dotted down again just before the half-hour mark with another score in the corner.

An altercation between the two teams late in the first half saw three players sent to the sin-bin, once from Alcester and two from Bromyard.

And Wright powered through the Bromyard defence to score under the posts after the visitors held Max Biltcliffe up over the line moments earlier.

Alcester scored their bonus point try when O’Connor cut back on the angle to power over.

And Gough then charged down an attempted clearing kick as Wright gathered the loose ball to score his second try under the posts.

Alcester took a commanding 29-point lead into the break which Walker extended with a try early in the second period.

Gough then dummied his way to the line to score Alcester’s seventh try before replacement scrum-half Udall scored the try of the match.

Udall collected the ball at the base of a breakdown just inside the opposition half and sniped through a series of gaps in the Bromyard defence to race to the line.

Wright saw an intercept try chalked off following an off-the-ball altercation which saw O’Connor sent to the sin-bin while Bromyard’s Harry Bowen received a second yellow card and red for his part in the incident.

Bromyard eventually troubled the scoreboard with a penalty try while Alcester lost prop Dev Jacobs to the sin-bin.

And Alcester then had Nigel Burrows sent off after he received a second yellow card for a technical infringement.

Bromyard made the most of the extra players to score a second try in the closing stages.

Alcester are next in action against Ledbury on Saturday, March 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Ross Road.
