RUGBY UNION - Alcester RFC's second team romp to 69-0 win against Coventry Saracens

ALCESTER RFC’s second team romped to a 69-0 win against Coventry Saracens as they ran in 11 tries on their return to action.

Playing in their first game for several weeks, Alcester lent two players to their opponents after Coventry turned up short of numbers.

Mark Burrell ran in four tries with Louis Smith and Glyn Smith touching down twice, the former on his return to rugby.

Despite playing out of position at prop, Phil Barks came off the bench to cross shortly before half-time before Robbie Parker and Morgan O’Dell added tries of their own.

Chris Howell slotted over five successful conversions with G Smith adding the extras on one occasion whilst prop Kyran Flynn converted another much to the delight of the crowd.

The game was called early ahead of time due to an opposition injury, but both sides were grateful to have a run out.

Alcester would also like to thank their newest sponsors Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors for sponsoring new post protectors, having just moved into the premises opposite the rugby club.

Alcester are next in action against Coventry Welsh on Saturday, January 29 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Burbages Lane.
