MARK Burrell scored a hat-trick as Alcester romped to an 11-try 76-0 demolition of Bromsgrove 2nds in their first home game of the season.
Burrell starred alongside fly-half Ed Gough who scored 21 points from the kicking tee at Kings Coughton.
The result means Alcester sit second in the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) table following a 22-7 opening day victory at Berkswell and Balsall.
An early penalty put Alcester into a three-nil lead before two tries apiece from Owen Binns and Burrell sent the home side into the break with a 31-0 advantage.
The hosts quickly racked up a half-century of points courtesy of second half tries from Will Silk, Dwayne Cruickshank and debutant James Lampitt.
A superb break and offload from Rushton set up Burrell’s hat-trick try before the former touched down himself soon after.
And Cruickshank grabbed his second try before Max Biltcliffe completed the scoring with a catch and drive at a lineout.
Alcester are next in action away at league leaders Leamington on Saturday, September 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Moorefields.
Elsewhere, the club’s second team won 46-12 at Southam 2nds in their first game of the season.
Alcester loaned two players to Southam in each half on the day with their opponents struggling for numbers.
A fine team display saw Alcester run in eight tries as Luke Spencer, Pavan Sembakuttige, Jimmy Watson, Che Mathews, Morgan Odell, AJ Bennett, Freddie White and Harry Roderick all dotted down.
Alcester 2nds host local rivals Shottery this weekend.
