RUGBY UNION - Alcester run in 13 tries in huge Pinley win

LUKE Spencer scored a hat-trick as 14-man Alcester romped to an 81-16 bonus point win against Pinley as the visitors ran in 13 tries.

Spencer’s treble was supported by two tries apiece from Jamie Clarke and captain Will Silk with further efforts from Mark Burrell, Will Mitchell, Matt Johnson, Jack Green, Lewis Wright and Jamie Harland at Wyken Croft.

The result means Alcester remain second in the Counties 2 Midlands West (South) table, three points behind leaders Manor Park.

Alcester notched 43 points in a remarkable first-half display and scored four tries in the final 10 minutes of the half after Pinley had closed the gap to within one try only for the visitors to race clear and lead 43-13 at the interval.

And Alcester brought up the 50-point mark when Wright touched down only for try scorer Green to be sent off by the referee for a perceived stamp.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Alcester scored another try only to lose Harry Wylie to the sin bin as the visitors finished the game with just 13 players on the pitch.

Remarkably, Alcester ran in a further four tries, despite playing with two less players, as the visitors romped to a comprehensive victory.

The win marked an incredible response to what was just their second defeat of the season against Old Wheatleyans in their last outing.

Alcester are next in action at home to Rugby St Andrews on Saturday, February 18 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Kings Coughton.
