REDDITCH RFC suffered a 37-23 defeat in their final home game of the season against high-flying Droitwich II.

The Kingfishers failed to score a point in the first half before Jon Beale, Archie Beddard and Matt Allen crossed for tries after the break at Bromsgrove Road.

And the result means Redditch sit ninth in the Counties 4 Midlands West (South) table with one match left to play.

Droitwich scored the game’s opening try inside two minutes after creating an overlap on the left wing before two further tries and a penalty put the visitors in command.

Redditch lost Nathan Marthews to a yellow card for a high tackle later in the first period although the Kingfishers kept Droitwich at bay for the remainder of the half.

The home side trailed by 20 points at the interval but reduced the deficit early in the second half when Beale crossed for a try.

And Redditch crossed again soon after as Beddard kicked through before diving on the loose ball and converting his own try after good pressure from Joe Morgan.

Beddard then kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit to five points only for Droitwich to score their bonus point try before Allen responded with the home side’s third try which Beddard converted.

However, Droitwich ran in a couple of late tries to end the game as a contest as the Kingfishers suffered a third consecutive defeat.

Redditch finish the season away at Evesham II on Saturday, April 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Blind Lane.
