RUGBY UNION - Redditch beaten on the road at Warley

REDDITCH RFC remain winless on the road since October following a 29-8 defeat at Warley.

The Kingfishers scored their only try with the last play of the match as Joe Morgan touched down while Archie Beddard kicked a first-half penalty at Tat Bank Road.

And the result means Redditch sit eighth in the Counties 4 Midlands West (South) table.

The visitors looked to make a quick start when Rory Allen caught the kick-off and made good ground only for the Kingfishers to drop the ball out wide, bringing an end to the attack.

Warley utilised their experience throughout and scored the game’s first try out wide before powering over from a driving maul.

Redditch kept themselves in the game when Beddard kicked a penalty before Warley scored their third try from a quick tap before the break.

And Warley stretched their lead with a try at the start of the second half while keeping the Kingfishers at bay before the home side struck again from a catch and drive at a lineout.

Warley had a player sent off late on as the Kingfishers made the most of the extra man to score their only try at the death when Morgan used his pace on the wing to dot down.

Redditch are next in action away at Upton-on-Severn on Saturday, February 10 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Banwell Park.
