REDDITCH RFC staged a second-half comeback to claim a narrow 15-12 win away at Drotiwich and their first away victory of the season.

Tries from Mickey Adams, James Mills and Craig Martin secured victory for the Kingfishers in a close game at the Glyn Micthell Memorial Ground.

The result means Redditch sit sixth in the Counties 4 Midlands West (South) table.

Droitwich scored the game’s opening try after dominating the opening stages, using the strong breeze to their advantage.

However, Redditch responded through Adams who dotted down wide of the posts after a series of strong carries from the try scorer, Martin and Dan Oscroft.

The home side reclaimed the lead when Will Baillon weaved his way through a number of players to touch down in the corner as the successful conversion sent Redditch into the break with a seven-point deficit.

The Kingfishers reduced the deficit after the interval when James Mills dove over low down following a dominant push after Redditch secured clean lineout ball.

And Martin scored the game-winning try for the visitors from Oscroft’s pass after a tap penalty and drive from Mills.

Droitwich missed with a penalty attempt which would have levelled the game up as the Kingfishers held on to secure their first win on the road this season.

Redditch are next in action against Evesham II on Saturday, September 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Bromsgrove Road.
