REDDITCH RFC suffered an agonising 34-33 defeat against Worcester II after the home side surrendered an 11-point lead.
The Kingfishers looked on course to record a first league win of the season courtesy of tries from Matt Allen and Harvey Habgood at Bromsgrove Road.
However, Worcester overturned an 11-point deficit in the final seven minutes to suffer a cruel one-point defeat.
Redditch did at least come away with two bonus points after crossing for five tries and losing by a single point against title-chasing Worcester.
Worcester scooped up a Redditch knock-on to score the game’s first try under the posts with the game just two minutes old.
And another Redditch handling error from the restart allowed the visitors to race into an early lead.
A quickly-taken lineout then caught out the Redditch defence as Worcester established a 17-point advantage.
However, Redditch responded with a try under the posts following a turnover.
And Allen then crashed over from a strong forward drive to reduce the deficit to three points at the interval.
The home side crossed again early in the second period to take the lead for the first time in the match.
The teams traded tries soon after as Worcester reclaimed the lead only for the Kingfishers to dot down their bonus point score.
And Habgood then intercepted a pass to score under the posts as Redditch took an 11-point lead with seven minutes left to play.
Worcester crossed for a try to reduce the deficit to six points before the Kingfishers conceded eight penalties and received a yellow card.
A missed penalty, which would have sealed the game for the home side, also proved costly as Worcester scored a converted try at the death to snatch victory.
Redditch are next in action against Bromsgrove III on Saturday, March 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Finstall Park.
