SKITTLES - Bernie's Bolts move top of Redditch Skittles League

BERNIE’S Bolts have temporarily moved top of the Redditch Skittles League after they beat Nomads although second-placed Lodge Farmers have three games in hand.

Bolts and Nomads shared the first leg before the latter side won the next two legs to take a 10-pin lead.

However, Bolts responded in leg four to head into the final leg all square and scored 65 pins to take the win as Nomads produced their lowest leg score of the game.

For Bolts, Jim Williamson (35), Rob Hackles (34, including 12 stack) and Paul Blayney (34) top scored whilst Mac Eaton (35) and Eddie Upright (34, 12 stack) were on form for Nomads.

Elsewhere, C and G Show produced an impressive last leg performance to beat The Borough as the winners narrowly won each of the first two legs.

However, The Borough turned a four-pin deficit into a 12-pin lead at the end of leg three and were nine ahead going into the final leg.

C and G Show found form at the right time as a final leg score of 76 was enough to clinch victory as Adam Ottis (37) and Aaron Evans (36) top scored for the winners whilst Steve Court (37, 12 stack) and Andrew Taylor (35, 12 stack) were on form for Borough.

Engineers secured a comprehensive win against Swingers to remain in title contention and led by 15 pins after winning the first two legs.

The victors were denied maximum points as the teams shared leg three before Engineers cruised to victory as they took the final two legs to win by a 30-pin margin.

Mark Ganderton (38) and Josh Kelso (37) top scored for Engineers whilst Rob Baker (37, 10 stack) and Janine Brennan (36) were on form for Swingers.

To date, the highest team total scored in a game is by Engineers with 361 pins followed by Nomads 351, and Jumbo Jet Set with 350.

And Rich Fisher (C and G Show) is currently top scorer in a game with 52 pins while Andrew Rumble (Lodge Farmers) and Mick Stanton (Jumbo Jets) have 49 pins each.

The ladies top scorers are Rachel Morris (Lodge Farmers) with 44, Sarah Edwards and Michelle Court (both The Borough) 41 each and Jess Andrews (Bernie’s Bolts) 38.
