BERNIE’S Bolts enjoyed a fine festive period to win both of their games in hand and move up to fourth place in the Redditch Skittles League.
The Bolts won a back and forth contest against The Borough and led by two pins after leg one only for their opponents to tie up the game and take a six-pin lead at the end of leg three.
However, the Bolts levelled in leg four and needed 63 to win in the final leg after The Borough posted their highest leg score of the game.
And the Bolts showed their class to score 67 and clinch victory by five pins as last man Mark Andrews knocked over the winning pins to finish on 31 with Rob Hackles (35), Laura Muir (32) and Dave Williams (31) their top scorers.
The Borough’s top scorers were Andrew Taylor and Charlie Few with 35 each and Rhiannon Watson who made 31.
And the Bolts won a more one-sided contest in their second game in hand against Swingers as some good bowling allowed them to open up a commanding lead after four legs.
Swingers earned a consolation point by taking the last leg with the highest leg score of the game.
For the Bolts, Hackles top scored with 41 (10 stack) and had good support from Mark West (37), Paul Blaney (35) and Williams (34).
Top scoring for Swingers were Rob Baker with 37 (13 stack), Martin Brennan (35) and Paul and John Clifton with 33 apiece.
