JUMBO Jet Set’s A team lifted the Redditch Skittles League’s Triples Trophy with victory against Lodge Farmers B in the final.

The trio of Dennis Compton, Rob Quartly and Len Quartly triumphed in a close final to raise the Chris Charlesworth Memorial Trophy.

However, the evening began with two quarter-final groups which consisted of four teams with the top two advancing to the semi-finals.

And three Engineers’ teams were drawn together in group one as the club’s A and B teams scored 101 and 100 pins respectively to reach the last four.

Engineers A player Craig Ellis finished on 44 which included a first leg stack of 16 whilst Luke Saunders made 39 for the B team.

In the other group, Lodge Farmers’ B and C teams were drawn together as the B team advanced along with Jumbo Jets A.

The Lodge B team finished just two pins ahead of Nomads B whilst Jumbo Jets A scored 97 points on their way to topping the group.

And the first semi-final saw Lodge Farmers B secure their place in the final with a comfortable win against Engineers A.

An impressive 15 stack from Chris Prichard, who scored 44 in total, put Lodge Farmers on top in leg one as the victors amassed 114 pins altogether.

Engineers A were always playing catch up and fell 16 pins short of the required total despite the best efforts of Craig Ellis who scored 38.

The other semi-final was a much closer affair as Jumbo Jets A led Engineers B by just four pins heading into the last leg.

Jumbo Jets scored 24 in the last leg to extend their lead to 28 pins which meant an Engineers player needed to make a double figure stack.

And Darren Sanders just missed out as he scored 35 whilst R Quartly’s 37 took Jumbo Jets to a seven-pin success.

Jumbo Jets A made a blistering start in the final as L Quartly made an 11 stack to ensure his side led by four pins at the end of the second leg.

The third leg was tied before Jumbo Jets moved eight pins clear at the end of leg four and scored 20 in the final leg which meant a Lodge Farmers B player needed to double figure last leg stack to secure victory.

Lodge Farmers went close but were only able to match Jumbo Jets’ 20-pin total as R Quartly (38) top scored for the victors whilst Glyn Morley (36) top scored for the runners-up.
