LODGE Farmers took a major step towards their first Redditch Skittles League title with a win against The Borough.

However, Lodge will have been disappointed they were unable to take maximum points from the fixture after winning each of the first three legs to lead by 30 pins.

The Borough fought back to win leg four with 70 pins as Lodge Farmers were only able to manage 50 in reply.

And the Borough stole the next leg by two pins to snatch another leg point as Glyn Morley (37) top scored for the victors.

There were also scores of 35 each for Richard Long (including 11 stack), Lynne Pemberton, Chris Prichard, Rachel Morris and Frank Morris.

On form for The Borough were Rhiannon Watson (38), Julian Workman (37) and Jon Dyke (36).

Earlier in the week, The Borough beat Bernie’s Bolts in a back-and-forth game as the victors opened up a 16-pin lead after winning the first two legs.

Bolts took leg three to come within three pins of Borough and took the lead by two pins after winning the fourth leg.

However, The Borough made the most of Bolts’ poor 45-pin final leg score as a huge 69 pins saw them take the win.

The Borough’s top scorers were Kim Workman (39), Scott Few (39, 11 stack) and Jon Dyke (37, 11 stack) with Rob Hackles (37), Paul Blayney (35) and Mark Andrews (33) best for Bernie’s Bolts.

Lastly, C and G Show did just enough to see off Nomads in a tight game with each team a bowler short.

Nomads won the first three legs but only held a nine-pin lead before C and G Show won the fourth leg to close the gap to a single pin.

And C and G Show scored 62 pins in the final leg to secure a narrow victory as Phil Cruise (35), Rich Fisher and Aaron Orton (both 34) top scored for the winners with James Marshall (38, 12 stack), Graham Hanley (37) and Alan Spreckley (36) on form for Nomads.
