LODGE Farmers have emerged as slight favourites after the first two rounds of matches of the New Year in the Redditch Skittles League.
Farmers beat the The Borough to claim a seventh successive win and remain unbeaten with a game in-hand on the chasing pack.
In their victory against The Borough, Andy Whittle (43, 14 stack) starred for Farmers along with Richard Long (37) while Rhiannon Moseley (37) and Steve Court (35) impressed for the losing side.
Elsewhere, Engineers remain on the tails of the leaders following a comfortable win against C and G Show.
The Kelso family guided Engineers to victory as Brandon (42, 16 stack), Joe (38) and Josh (36) all scored well while Angela Guest and Paul O’Neill (both 34) top scored for C and G Show.
A resurgent Bernie’s Bolts edged out struggling Nomads in a low-scoring affair as Andy Gill-Smith (36) and Lewis McSweeney (35) scored well for the victors and Alan Cummings (38) and Phil Jones (35) top scored for the losing side.
The following week, The Borough claimed their first win of the season against C and G Show to climb off the bottom of the table.
The Borough leapfrogged their opponents in the table as Jack Court (41, 14 stack) and Steve Court, Scott Few and Charles Few (all 37) top scored for the victors.
For C and G Show, Angela Guest (41, 11 stack) and Rich Fisher (39, 11 stack) impressed in vain.
Jumbo Jet Set began the year with a win against Nomads as Dave Marriott (35) and Rob Quartly, Darren Summers and Dennis Compton (all 34) scored well.
For Nomads, Cummings (38) top scored again while Mac Eaton (37) also impressed.
A surprise result saw Engineers fail to score more than 300 pins in their defeat against Bernie’s Bolts.
Fine scores from Jim Williamson (40) and Craig McSweeney (38) helped Bernie’s Bolts to victory while Andy Clewlow and Brandon Kelso (both 34) top scored for Engineers.
