SKITTLES - Lodge Farmers score highest total of season in Redditch Skittles League

LODGE Farmers scored their highest total of the season as the Redditch Skittles League leaders took maximum points against C and G Show.

Farmers knocked over 353 pins to consolidate their place at the top of the table and took the a five-pin lead at the end of the first leg.

And Farmers built a strong lead over the next three legs before an 85-pin final leg score took the game out of C and G Show’s reach.

For Farmers, Frank Morris (45, 15 and 12 stacks), Tim Jones (38), Sue Morris (37, 14 stack) and Andy Rumble (37) all impressed while the other team members all made 30 or more.

And for C and G Show, Bryan Smith and Dave Orton (both 36) and Angela Guest (35) top scored.

Engineers lost some ground on league leaders Lodge Farmers after The Borough won the final leg to deny the second-placed side maximum points.

After winning the first leg by four pins, Engineers eventually built up a 37-pin lead up until the penultimate leg.




However, The Borough claimed the final leg despite only scoring 59 pins as Engineers fell one-pin short of achieving maximum points.

For Engineers, Mark Ganderton and Andy Clewlow (both 40) and Craig Sears (38) top scored while Charlie Few (34) and Steve Court and Scott Few (both 33) impressed for The Borough.


Lastly, Jumbo Jets claimed a narrow six-pin victory in a close game with Nomads despite the latter side taking a 13-pin lead at the end of leg one.

However, Jumbo Jets kept themselves in the game before taking a two-pin lead at the end of leg three as Nomads reduced the deficit to a single pin at the end of the following leg.

Nomads scored 60 in the final leg to leave Jets needing the same score to claim the win as the latter side’s final bowler ensured Jets took the lion’s share of the points.

For Jets, Rob Quartly (36) and Ray Jones and Rich Johnston (both 35) top scored while for Nomads Mac Eaton (39, 11 stack) and James Marshall, Wendy Coombes and Jordan Bunn (all 34) impressed.

Engineers 337 (9pts) v The Borough 301 (2pts)

Nomads 309 (3pts) v Jumbo Jet Set 315 (8pts)
